Shocking
Government scraps teaching of maths and science in English
By Adib Zalkapli
PUTRAJAYA, July 8 — The government today decided to end the policy of teaching mathematics and science in English or PPSMI in both primary and secondary schools effective from 2012.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, in an announcement today, said the two subjects will be taught in Bahasa Melayu in national schools and Tamil and Chinese for vernacular schools.
The Education Minister added that the changes would not affect Form Six and matriculation programmes.
"The government made the decision after studying closely research on PPSMI that shows that PPSMI could not be implemented as expected," Muhyiddin told a special press conference here.
He said the decision was fair and made carefully after witnessing the implementation in the first six years after its introduction.
He also denied that the decision to scrap the policy was politically motivated.
"This decision is not political, we made the decision not for political mileage. What is Manek Urai compared to the future of our children," said Muhyiddin.
He however denied that the PPSMI policy had failed.
"I wouldn't say it was a complete failure, but it did not achieve what it was supposed to achieve," he said.
Introduced in 2003, the policy has been heavily criticised by Chinese educationists and Malay-language activists, but a recent survey by the independent Merdeka Center showed that 58 per cent of 1,060 voters interviewed supported the policy.
Muhyiddin had admitted in Parliament last month that students had not shown significant improvement in the two subjects over the past six years.
But he said today the intention of the policy, which is to improve English language proficiency among Malaysian students, will continue to be upheld.
The measures to be introduced include recruiting some 14,000 new English language teachers. Currently there are more than 30,000 English teachers nationwide.
Muhyiddin also said the lesson duration for English language would also be doubled for lower primary students to 120 minutes a week, while for upper primary it would be increased from 90 minutes to 120 minutes a week.
For secondary students, the duration will be increased from 200 minutes to 280 minutes a week.
I am shocked to hear this news.. REALLY SHOCKING!!
Their decision will surely affect our children as they will be the future leaders of the nation
We know that mastering English is important but I still don't understand why some quarters wanted it to be abolished. Is it so hard for them to learn English or are the terms in English are so difficult until they can't even understand a simple term?
If they really abolish PPSMI, I bet unemployment among Malaysian will increase.. Due to lack of proficiency in English, they will not be employed.. Surely..
Now we are in the world that is full of challenges and obstacles. Without learning English, how are we going to survive in this world? How are we going to further our studies in university level, masters level, and PhD level without a proficiency in English? Are we going to learn our mother tongue language during our university level? Obviously not!!
I'm indeed dissapointed with the decision.. I thought that there will find a better solution for this problem and in the end they made an unwise decision..
I think I should stop ranting here. Tata and God bless. :)

Exams Results.
One of my best buddy SMS me yesterday evening that the results were released online and can be viewed. I told her that I will check mine after my dinner. Few moments later, she then SMS me telling me that she checked her results and she was so happy that she had done scored so well. I thought that since she did so well, maybe I will do well too. haha
Immediately after dinner, I turned on my laptop and access to the mymonash portal to check my results. After logging into the mymonash portal, I was so nervous and my heart beat quite fast. Finally, when the paged is being displayed, my right hand was on the mouse and I scrolled down the page to check my results. Upon seeing my results, I was so happy that all my hardwork paid off. I scored all 5 High Distinction in all 5 subjects taken. Finally, I can sleep well and don't have to worry so much. I called my best friend and share the good news to her. She was so happy with my results too and we then congratulate each other for getting all HD in all subject taken.
Here are my results for both semesters.
Semester 1
English Part A - 73 - Distinction
Accounting Part A -88 - High Distinction
Economics Part A - 79 - Distinction
Maths Part A - 85 - High Distinction
Semester 2
English Part B - 87 - High Distinction
Accounting Part B - 91 - High Distinction
Computer Science Part A - 87 - High Distinction
Economics Part B - 90 - High Distinction
Maths Part B - 91 - High Distinction
Average score after adding the highest 8 units and the lowest unit will take it as 5% of the total marks is 353. Clearly, my semester 2 results were much better than the previous semester.
I've achieve my target of getting at least 350 for my average score. I'm so happy and delighted with my results especially English. Actually, English was not an easy subject to score High Distinction after all. Many thanks to Ms Angela for all her advice and lectures throughout the past 5 months..
Finally, I can relax a while more before going to Monash University next month. Looking forward for that and graduation night on thr 15 July :)
This morning the USA had ended Spain winning streak in the 2009 Confederation Cup Semis by beating their number 1 opponent 2-0
Clint Dempley scored the second goal against Spain.
Next match would be Brazil vs South Africa.. Maybe the hosts might upset the defending champions. But the Samba boys are clear favourites to win the match.
That all for today. Tata and God bless. :)

Pimples and Acne's
Acne vulgaris (commonly called acne) is a common skin condition, caused by changes in the pilosebaceous units, skin structures consisting of a hair follicle and its associated sebaceous gland via androgen stimulation. It is characterized by noninflammatory follicular papules or comedones and by inflammatory papules, pustules, and nodules in its more severe forms. Acne vulgaris affects the areas of skin with the densest population of sebaceous follicles; these areas include the face, the upper part of the chest, and the back. Severe acne is inflammatory, but acne can also manifest in noninflammatory forms.[1] Acne lesions are commonly referred to as pimples, blemishes, spots, zits, or acne.
Acne is most common during adolescence, affecting more than 85% of teenagers, and frequently continues into adulthood. The cause in adolescence is generally an increase in male sex hormones, which people of both genders accrue during puberty. [2] For most people, acne diminishes over time and tends to disappear—or at the very least decrease—after one reaches one's early twenties. There is, however, no way to predict how long it will take to disappear entirely, and some individuals will continue to suffer well into their thirties, forties and beyond.[3]
The face and upper neck are the most commonly affected, but the chest, back and shoulders may have acne as well. The upper arms can also have acne, but lesions found there are often keratosis pilaris, not acne. Typical acne lesions are comedones, inflammatory papules, pustules and nodules. Some of the large nodules were previously called "cysts" and the term nodulocystic has been used to describe severe cases of inflammatory acne. [4]
Aside from scarring, its main effects are psychological, such as reduced self-esteem[5] and, according to at least one study, depression or suicide.[6] Acne usually appears during adolescence, when people already tend to be most socially insecure. Early and aggressive treatment is therefore advocated by some to lessen the overall impact to individuals.[5]
My face has been growing lots of pimples or acne's ever since I've finished my exams. I don't know what are the possible cause of pimples or acne. I know that growing pimples during the exam periods is usual for students like me because they themselves have to stay up late to study, and also assignments pouring in causing them to have high level of stress like me.
But now that the exams had ended, my face continue to grow lots of pimples or acne's and this certainly worries me. For the past 6 months I've stopped eating peanut butter which is one of my favourite sandwich spread for breakfast. In fact, I'm now avoiding food that is fried, oily and something that contain peanut in it. I really miss peanut butter and for the sake of my face and to prevent pimples from growing, I have to stop eating that for a while untill my pimples subside.
Few months back, I went to see the doctor about my pimples and acne's. The doctor then prescribed me some antibiotics and pimple cream to apply on it.. The nurse also advised me to stay away from eating fried and oily food for the time being. I finished the antibiotics and every night I applied the pimple cream that the doctor prescribed to me. Initially, it was effective and the pimples dried up. After the exam period, I realised that my pimples and acne's keep on popping on my face. In fact, I tried not to stay in my hot and stuffy room every afternoon and I also make sure that I drink lots of water when I'm at home. Also I also watch my diet and also go jogging every evening..
All these that I've done can't prevent the pimples from growing. I also don't know what do do with this. In fact my face tend to become oily easily and I wash my face every 3 times a day. I just hope that these irritating pimples or acne's will subside before going for the Graduation Night next month.
I think I should stop complaining here. Otherwise more pimples will grow on my face. hahaha. * kidding only*
Going to Genting tomorrow and will be back on Saturday :)
Tata and God bless.

Now that I'm done with this. I want to have a nice break. Maybe I would use the time to sleep, go facebook-ing, reading, and playing my PS2 games.. I don't feel like blogging now.. Maybe someday if I have the mood to blog, I will do so..
My blog layout looks very plain.. Oneday, I would like to seek my cousin's help to change the blog layout. Just that I'm too lazy to look out for a more creative design..
That's all for today and I will update this blog very soon. :)

Busy Busy...
Today also mark the 1st day of May, which means that everyone including students from primary and secondary schools are busying studying for their coming mid year exams. Not excluding most college and universities students who also need to prepare for their coming final semester or mid term assessments. For me I have another exactly 22 more days to my finals, which actually determine my path if I got my first choice degree that I've had applied. I know that 22 more days is very short time but I've have to begin my revision now. No last minute studying. This certainly reminds me of studying for SPM 2 years back. College studies weren't easy and maintaining good grades in every topic test also weren't easy. We have to study smartly and hard.
On the other hand, after I've finish my exam, this means that I've completed MUFY officially. My next destination would be Monash University. Hopefully, I will be in Australia if I get a scholarship but I certainly don't mind if I got a scholarship studying in Sunway campus. Life is getting tougher for me but this is part of life and certainly everyone in the whole world is facing tough challenges everyday. So, it is pointless for us to dwell it.
I think I should stop here. Next week would be my busiest week because I will be having 6 assessments and topic test. Hope that God can give me more strength in enduring all my topic test, assessments, trials and finally my final exam. Better go study now before it is too late..
hahaha.
Tata and God bless. :):)
p.s. Sorry for the lack of updates due to lack of time and I'm too busy with my college work and assignments.

Omg, Liverpool meet Chelsea again in Champions League Competition again.
In an hour time, I will be leaving to Kuantan to attend my uncle Rotary Installation Night 2009.

The Poor Frog
I've got this video from one of my dad's friends and I would like to share this with you guys. It is surprising to see that a frog which is attempting to catch the fly but turn up that the fly is strong enough to lift the poor frog. Unbelievable right? First time seeing this unusual things happen in nature.
For my first day of college is just normal, except for the registration of subjects. The time of the subjects that I wanted didn't turn up as what I wanted earlier due to some classes which was full. I think there are around 400++ students for this semester. So, everyday I will finish my class at 4.00 p.m and if there is Moral studies lecture then the time would be at 5.30 p.m . Late rite? This year there are more Arician students in my class and most of them come from Bostwana.
Next up is my English research project which I still deciding on what title should I choose. Hopefully I choose the correct one and I've to confirm the title by next week to the lecturer. No more relaxing time for me and I have to start gearing up now.
Hopefully I can get to blog once when I'm free to do so :)
Ps : CNY is just 2 weeks time. I just can't wait for this festive celebration. :):)
Tata and God bless :)
